Why thin film capacitors are self-healing

The self-healing of so-called thin-film capacitor self-healing refers to the capacitor in the case of having defects or under clicking through, the capacitor can return to normal situation called self-healing.

The cause for this phenomenon is that when the dielectric of the film capacitor is defective or clicked, the metallized coating at the breakdown point or defect position will volatilize instantly under the action of electric arc. The two poles of the capacitor are short-circuited again to resume normal operation. This is why thin film capacitors are self-healing.
