Thermistor selection criteria

Since there are many types and models of thermostor, whether you choose Positive Temperature Coefficient or Negative Temperature Coefficient, you should select your own model and sample test according to the circuit.

Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) is generally used in refrigerator compressor starting circuit, color picture tube degaussing circuit, motor over current overheat protection circuit, current limiting circuit and constant temperature electric heating circuit. The thermostor suitable for its starting can be selected according to different types of compressors to achieve a good starting effect.

Degaussing thermistor used on color televisions and computer monitors. According to the working voltage (220V or 110V), working current and degaussing coil specifications of the TV and display, the degasussing thermistor with the parameters of nominal resistance, starting current and working voltage can be selected. Models with nominal resistance, switching temperature, operating current, and dissipated power that meet the requirements of the application circuit should be selected.

Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) is generally used in microwave power measurement, temperature detection, temperature compensation, temperature control and voltage regulation in various electronic products. When selecting, the appropriate type and model should be selected according to the needs of the application circuit. The commonly used NTC for voltage regulation can use the thermostat voltage and operating current according to the reference voltage value of the application circuit design.
