Introduction to tantalum capacitors:

The full name of tantalum capacitor is tantalum electrolytic capacitor (also called tantalum capacitor), which is a kind of electrolytic capacitor. It uses metal crucible as medium. It does not use electrolyte like ordinary electrolytic capacitor. Therefore, it is suitable for working at high temperature. It is the volume in capacitor. Small but high-capacity products have few competitors in power supply filtering and AC bypass.

Tantalum capacitor advantages:

The tantalum capacitor itself has almost no inductance, but it also limits its capacity. In addition, since there is no electrolyte inside the tantalum capacitor, it is suitable for working at high temperatures.

Tantalum capacitors are characterized by long life, high temperature resistance, high accuracy, and excellent filtering of high frequency harmonics. During the operation of the tantalum electrolytic capacitor, it has the property of automatically repairing or isolating the defects in the oxide film, so that the oxide film medium can be reinforced at any time and restored to its proper insulating ability without continuous cumulative damage. This unique self-healing performance guarantees its long life and reliability advantages.

Tantalum electrolytic capacitors have a very high working electric field strength and are larger than the same type of capacitors, thereby ensuring its miniaturization.

Defects of tantalum capacitors:

The capacity is smaller, the price is also higher than the aluminum capacitor, and the voltage and current resistance are weak. It is used in large-capacity filtering. Like the CPU socket, the tantalum capacitor is seen. It is used together with ceramic capacitors and electrolytic capacitors or used in places where voltage and current are not large.

Introduction to polymer tantalum capacitors:

The polymer capacitor is a chip-type laminated aluminum electrolytic capacitor using a high-conductivity polymer material as a cathode, and has superior electrical properties beyond the existing liquid-plate aluminum electrolytic capacitors and solid-plate tantalum electrolytic capacitors. The polymer capacitor is within the rated voltage range and does not require step-down.

It has an extremely low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and is capable of reducing ripple voltage, allowing for greater ripple current. At high frequencies, the polymer chip laminated aluminum electrolytic capacitor exhibits an approximately ideal capacitor characteristic. The capacitance is very stable in the case of frequency changes. These capacitors are mainly used in motherboards (laptops, flat panel displays, digital switches) bypass decoupling / energy storage filter capacitors, switching power supplies, DC / DC converters, high frequency noise suppression circuits and portable electronic devices.
