There are many kinds of capacitors, and they can be generally classified into two methods.
Category one: According to the different types of insulation materials (dielectrics) used.
1. Solid inorganic dielectric capacitors. Such as ceramic capacitors, mica capacitors, monolithic capacitors.
2. Solid organic dielectric capacitors, such as polyester film capacitors, polypropylene capacitors, polyester capacitors, and other metal film capacitors.
3. Electrolytic capacitors, such as electrolytic capacitors (CD) and other electrolytic capacitors.
Category two: According to the structure of the capacitor classification.
1. Fixed capacitor: A capacitor whose capacity cannot be changed.
2. Variable capacitors and trimmer capacitors: Capacitors that can be manually adjusted in a range of capacitances and smaller. It can also be divided into filter capacitors, coupling capacitors, and bypass capacitors, depending on the application. In short, in general electronic circuits, there are basically three types of capacitors: a fixed capacitor, a trimmer capacitor, and an electrolytic capacitor.
The metal film capacitor directly evaporates a thin layer of metal on the plastic film as an electrode. This evaporated metal layer is thinner than the usual metal foil, which is a metallized film capacitor. Metal film capacitors are generally used in low-frequency circuits, and CBB capacitors in metal film capacitors are used in many circuits and have better performance.
