Lightning varistor precautions

Lightning varistor is basically a necessary electronic component for each of us. The lightning varistor is a resistor in which the resistance value changes with the voltage in a certain current and voltage range, or the resistance value is sensitive to the voltage. What should we pay attention to in the use of lightning resistance varistors?

1 In applications where the surge pulse is repeatedly generated, the surge peak current and surge energy through the lightning varistor do not exceed the value specified in the “Pulse Life Characteristics”.

2 The operating voltage of the lightning varistor (the voltage applied continuously across the lightning varistor) must not exceed the "continuous operating voltage" value listed in the technical parameters table of the lightning varistor.

3 Lightning varistor operating temperature should be within the range of technical conditions.

4 Lightning varistors should not be installed close to heat or combustible components. It is better to have more than 3mm intervals to avoid damage to components.

5 The surge peak current through the lightning varistor should not exceed the "peak current" listed in the lightning varistor technical parameter table.

6 When the surge pulse is repeatedly applied to both ends of the lightning varistor intermittently for a short period of time, the designer should calculate the average power at this time and should make it lower than that listed in the technical parameters table of the lightning varistor. Out of the "static power."
