How to distinguish Y capacitors in TV boards (I)

Home televisions or electronic devices containing circuit boards contain a pair of Y capacitors, or even pairs of Y capacitors. Do you know which capacitors on these boards are Y capacitors? Today's editor comes to share with you the identification method of the Y capacitor.

 

1 Since the volume of the capacitor is larger than the resistance, the direct nominal method is generally used. If the number is 0.001, then it represents 0.001uF=1nF, if it is 10n, then it is 10nF, and 100p is 100pF.

 

2 Direct representation of non-standard units: 1 to 4 digits are used, and the unit of capacity is pF. For example, 350 is 350 pF, 3 is 3 pF, and 0.5 is 0.5 pF.

 

3 color code representation: In the direction of the capacitor leads, different colors are used to represent different numbers. The first and second rings indicate the capacitance. The third color indicates the number of valid figures and zeros (the unit is pF). Color meanings: black=0, brown=1, red=2, orange=3, yellow=4, green=5, blue=6, violet=7, ash=8, white=9.

 

Of course, this method sometimes fails, because sometimes other capacitors may be the same color as the Y capacitor, so we need a scientific identification method. The Y capacitor is mainly used for degaussing, so we generally use the Y capacitor to work hard, because the Y capacitor is a crossover capacitor that connects the power line to the ground line. So we only need to find the capacitance between the power first and the ground, that is the Y capacitor.
