Film capacitance measurement method

The following is a method for detecting a film capacitor using a digital multimeter resistor file, which is useful for a meter that does not have a capacitance file. This method is suitable for measuring large-capacity capacitors from 0.1μF to several thousand microfarads. Turn the digital multimeter to the appropriate resistance file. The red and black test leads respectively touch the two poles of the capacitor Cx under test. At this time, the display value will gradually increase from “000” until the overflow symbol “1” is displayed. If “000” is always displayed, the film capacitor is internally short-circuited; if overflow is always displayed, the internal pole of the film capacitor may be open or the selected resistor may not be suitable.
