Damage to capacitors in the power supply (I)

What happens when a capacitor is damaged in a power supply? Common capacitors are ceramic capacitors, multilayer ceramic capacitors, high-voltage capacitors, and safety capacitors.

1) Short and open circuit damage inside the capacitor. The fault phenomenon is to burn out the switch tube and other current-limiting components, such as the current limiting resistor in the fuse and switching power supply. The varistor may be broken down.

2) Capacitors with short capacitors and open circuit damage Safety capacitors operating at high voltages and currents, when for some reason the voltage rises and exceeds its withstand voltage value, it causes breakdown short-circuit damage. Due to the large current flowing through the capacitor during a short circuit, the safety capacitor will burst.
