Starting capacitor connection

The following is an introduction to the connection method of the starting capacitor. The connection is as shown in the figure: the two ends of the capacitor, one end is connected to the live wire, and the other end is connected to the auxiliary winding.

Capacitors generally do not have positive and negative poles, only electrolytic capacitors have positive and negative polarities. The difference is that the outer surface of the capacitor is marked with a ten. One, and it must be connected to the circuit as required. As for charging, this is not a charger, it does not require you to charge it.

The problem of electrolytic capacitors is not thickness, but their internal structure is different from that of ordinary capacitors. They have electrolyte paper, positive and negative aluminum paper. Ordinary capacitors pass AC and block DC; while electrolytic capacitors have polarity and can only pass DC, from the positive electrode to the negative electrode. Otherwise, they will be damaged.The first type, split-phase starting, as shown in Figure 1, uses an auxiliary starting winding to assist in starting, and its starting torque is not large. The operating speed is roughly maintained at a constant value. It is mainly used in electric fans, air conditioner fan motors, washing machines and other motors.

The second type is that the centrifugal switch is turned on when the motor is stationary. After power is supplied, the starting capacitor participates in the starting work. When the rotor speed reaches 70% to 80% of the rated value, the centrifugal switch will automatically trip, the starting capacitor completes its task and is disconnected. The starting winding does not participate in the running work, and the motor continues to operate with the running winding coil, as shown in Figure 2.

The third type is that the centrifugal switch is turned on when the motor is stationary. After power is supplied, the starting capacitor participates in the starting work. When the rotor speed reaches 70% to 80% of the rated value, the centrifugal switch will automatically trip, the starting capacitor completes the task and is disconnected. The running capacitor is connected in series to the starting winding to participate in the running work. This connection method is generally used in places with large and unstable loads such as air compressors, cutting machines, and woodworking machine tools. As shown in Figure 3.

Figure 4 is a wiring diagram with a forward and reverse switch. Usually, the resistance value of the starting winding and the running winding of this motor is the same, that is, the wire diameter and number of coils of the starting winding and the running winding of the motor are exactly the same. This type of motor is generally used in washing machines. This forward and reverse control method is simple and does not require a complicated conversion switch.
