What is the difference between ink printing and laser printing on film capacitors

When choosing film capacitors, some manufacturers use ink printing for the lettering, while others use laser printing. Which one is better?

1. From a cost perspective.

From the perspective of the manufacturer's production cost, the cost of ink printing equipment is lower, while the cost of laser printing equipment is slightly higher. This is similar to the difference between inkjet and laser printers. Generally, an inkjet printer can be bought for two or three hundred yuan, while a laser printer costs more than 1000 yuan.

2. From a durability perspective.

If ink is used to print on film capacitors, the ink is prone to fading, making it difficult to read the capacitor parameters. Laser printing, on the other hand, does not have this problem; laser-printed lettering on film capacitors will never fade.

In actual use, due to various reasons, there have indeed been cases where ink-printed capacitors have faded. Therefore, most film capacitors have now replaced ink printing with laser printing.

Note: For items such as axial capacitors, only ink printing can be used; laser printing is not currently available.

3. From an environmental protection perspective.

Laser marking machines do not produce mechanical deformation, nor do they corrode material surfaces. The marking process does not generate harmful substances that pollute the environment. Ink printing requires a variety of auxiliary materials, which have a pungent odor and are harmful to both the human body and the environment. Therefore, very few materials can be used with this method.

       Many factories now require the use of environmentally friendly materials when purchasing film capacitors, making laser printing more environmentally friendly. Overall, most film capacitors now use laser printing, with only a very few manufacturers still using the old-fashioned ink printing method.
