Common faults of capacitor banks(1)

Shunt capacitors should be checked regularly, at least once every quarter, mainly to check whether there is dirt such as dust accumulated in the shell of capacitor, porcelain casing, installation support and so on, and carry out a serious cleaning.

When inspecting, special attention should be payed to the connection between the points to check whether it’s firm or not, whether loose; whether the shell bulges, seepage (leakage) oils and so on. If the above phenomenon is found, let the capacitor quit operation and properly handled.
