The withstand voltage test refers to the test of the withstand voltage capability of various electrical devices, insulating materials and insulating structures. The process of applying a high voltage to an insulating material or an insulating structure without damaging the properties of the insulating material is called a withstand voltage test. In general, the main purpose of the withstand voltage test is to check the ability of the insulation to withstand the operating voltage or overvoltage, and to check whether the insulation performance of the product equipment meets the safety standards.

Capacitor withstand voltage test:

The capacitor product is exposed to a very harsh electrical environment. If the product can maintain normal conditions under such a harsh electrical environment, it can be determined that it can be maintained normally under normal circumstances. situation. Under normal circumstances, after product design, production, quality assurance and maintenance, pressure test is required to ensure that the product meets safety standards in all aspects. Different products have different technical specifications. The AC-DC withstand voltage test basically applies a voltage higher than normal operation to the product. This voltage must last for a specified period of time. If a component's leakage current is within the specified range within the specified time, it can be determined that the component is operating under normal conditions and should be very safe. Excellent design and good selection of insulating materials protect the user from accidental electric shock.

The basic principle of the withstand voltage test: a voltage higher than normal operation is applied to the insulator of the device under test for a specified period of time. If the insulation between them is good enough, the voltage applied to it will only be small. Leakage current. If the insulation of a device under test remains within the specified range for a specified period of time, it can be determined that the device under test can operate safely under normal operating conditions. When performing the withstand voltage test, the technical specifications are different for the tested product, and the measurement standard is different. For the general equipment under test, the withstand voltage test measures the leakage current between the live wire and the casing. The basic rule is to add twice the operating voltage of the measured object plus 1000V as the standard voltage for the test. The test voltage of some products may be higher than this specified value. According to the provisions of IEC61010, the test voltage must be gradually increased to the required test voltage value (for example, 5kV, etc.) within 5s to ensure that the test voltage value is stably added to the tested insulator for not less than 5s. The current value is compared with the standard specified leakage current threshold to determine whether the insulation performance of the tested product meets the standard. After the test is over, the test voltage must gradually drop to zero within the specified time.
