The equivalent capacitance formula is similar to a resistor in parallel: C = (C1 * C2) / (C1 + C2).

For example, after two 100 microfarad capacitors are connected in series, it becomes a 50 microfarad capacitor. The series capacitor's withstand voltage is the sum of the two, and the capacity is the inverse and one part of the two. The withstand voltage of the two capacitors in parallel is the value with the lower withstand voltage, and the capacity is the sum of the two. In simple terms, the series withstand voltage increases and the capacity decreases. The parallel withstand voltage does not change, and the capacity increases.
