Film capacitors are mainly used in electronics, home appliances, communications, electric power, electrified railways, hybrid vehicles, wind power, solar power and other industries. So why add a CBB capacitor after the traditional bridge PFC rectification?

 

If the CBB capacitor is not added, only the junction capacitance of the rectifier is left, which is very small. Once the loop has stray inductance, its resonance frequency is very high and the amplitude is large. One is that it is easy to break through the rectifier and the other is the deterioration of EMI. The reason for choosing CBB capacitors is the price advantage, and the withstand voltage is secondarily. Secondly, because the capacitors must withstand a sufficiently high surge charging current, the CBB capacitors with a "self-healing" effect are selected. PS: "Self-healing" effect: The surge charging current will cause the capacitor capacity to become smaller, but the CBB capacitor can hold it, and the capacity loss is relatively small.

 

The principle of self-healing of CBB capacitors is: when the dielectric of CBB capacitors has a problem or a click, the metallized coating at the breakdown point or the problem location will be under the effect of the arc, and the metallized coating at the corresponding location will instantly evaporate, making the capacitor The two poles are short-circuited again and normal operation resumes.
